Welcome to Casey Elementary School
Casey Elementary is a dynamic school with exemplary staff and the best of the best students. High expectations and academic excellence are the mighty pillars of the school. Each child is a treasured, unique human being and the Casey family is dedicated to the task of helping each child reach his or her maximum potential.
Educating the leaders of tomorrow through innovation and creativity.
The mission of Casey Elementary School is to collaboratively educate respectful and responsible citizens who think critically and positively impact the world through innovation and creativity.
The school building is located on 18 acres and cost over $1.6 million to construct. August 11, 1999 was the very first day of school for the Casey Elementary staff and students. While the building is a spectacular site, the real school consists of the dynamic, energetic, and innovative students, along with our caring professional educators. Casey serves students from prekindergarten through fifth grade. The rigorous student-centered curriculum is built on the Bertha Casey tradition of excellence and integrity.
Our school is named for Miss Bertha Florence Casey. Miss Casey was born in Fredericktown, Missouri, on December 3, 1904, yet lived most of her life in Austin, Texas. She was educated in the Austin Public Schools and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. She was an active and respected member of the University Methodist Church where she taught the Fellowship Forum for 25 years.
Miss Casey taught 41 years in the Austin Independent School District. She began her teaching career at Austin High School from 1929-1954. She then transferred to the new A.N. McCallum High School where she taught until her retirement in 1970. Her students worked hard, and loved and respected Miss Casey. Miss Casey's devotion serves as an inspiration that teaching is a noble calling.
